This is my tying of the blue winged olive emerger tied on a size sixteen down eyed hook very fine wire.if you cant get Cock de leon any good barred cock hackle will do. but try and get the real thing if you can. If you have any problems tying this please email me , also cut the thin skin very fine to give a nice segmented body.

Tie in three strands of cock de leon for the tail

Wind up the body in overlapping turns

Tie in one good cdc feather

Loop the feather over to the eye and tie down

tie back the loose feathe fibres and whip finish and varnish

Olive Nymph. hook size 14. wind on about seven turns of fine lead wire

tie down the lead with black thread and wind back down to the bend

Tie in a strand of silver wire

dub some olive rabbit fur to the threaddub it on nice and fine

wind it on back up to behind the lead wire making sure to taper it up

now wind the wire back up about four turns is plenty

Now tie in a nice bunch of pheasant tail about fourteen strands of feather fibre.

Dub on more olive rabbit fur at the thorax giving a nice oval shape

Pull over the pheasant tail and tie down at the eye creating the wing case.

Now divide the fibres evenly to each side .

stroke back the fibres pushing them down as you are doing it ,and tie them down.then whip finish and varnish the head
